OverviewIn Fallout 4 the wardrobe system allows the to piece together their outfit from a variety of clothing and armor choices. The system is broken up into 9 slots, and 2 layers:.

Base layer. Body (Pants, shirts, etc.). Hat (Baseball caps, combat armor helmet, fedoras, etc.). Eye (glasses and goggles). Mouth. Armor - These are worn on top of the base layer.

Chest. Right arm. Left arm. Right leg.

Left legMany wardrobe items take up multiple slots, including armor slots, limiting what other pieces they can be combined with. Each item on every layer can offer bonuses, such as different kinds of damage resistance. All of these items and their unique bonuses are detailed below. Furthermore, can be applied to select items, providing additional bonuses.Characters can enter wearing any combination of clothing, adding an additional layer of armor. However, wearing power armor nullifies all bonuses provided by the lower layers. Each piece of armor falls under one of these classifications: Normal,.

Normal armors have no special bonuses applied to them. Legendary armors come with random bonuses and are mostly dropped by Legendary enemies.

It's really useful.

It's actually the first mod I installed because my first character was a spy/infiltrator build and I wanted him to look like James Bond, but the Tuxedo doesn't allow additional armor.I mean, really, it's like they were like 'eh, we don't feel like dealing with clipping issues for ALL these outfits, so fuck it.' And the visibility mod is perfect to deal with that anyway, which is fine because it's like you're wearing your leg armor beneath your pants as opposed to over them.

No clue why that was so hard for Bethesda to support.Another great mod is Legendary Modification which allows you to craft legendary effects. I wouldn't have installed it due to just assuming it was cheating, but I think the creator did a good job of making it reasonably difficult to craft it, and the difficulty is adjustable within the mod. Like, one version created a new crafting component called 'Effect Chip' which can only be gotten by scrapping legendary gear. Then new legendary mods require 5+ of them to get the desired effect on your gear. Another version makes it only so that you can move a legendary effect from one thing to another, so you have to find a piece with it to have the effect on the piece you want (similar to moving mods between weapons).Anyhow, at least once the CK comes out you'll be able to get some of these. Armorsmith Extended is so useful and popular, I highly doubt it will take it long to be available on XB1/PS4.

So while you're missing out right this second, hopefully it won't be too much longer. Armor Extended combined with Craftable legendaries make the number crunching part of the rpg really work its magic. I have it set so that I can only take legendaries off of existing weapons/armor and put them on another but I can't build them from scratch.

Keeps the game challenging and then even crappy legendaries I want to hang on to in case I find an object it would work well with. And having every item I have equipped both give me defense bonuses as well as legendary bonuses is super sweet. I don't need to carry around 3 separate changes of clothes for when I want to barter or sneak or melee.

Saves so much room for my bags of cement. Grognak's I actually feel is balanced, if not underpowered. The +2 Strength is moot because you could wear army fatigues plus Fortifying chest for +2 Strength. So that +20% melee damage is at the expense of 1 Agility, 1 Endurance, 60 armor ( excluding ballistic weave on the fatigues!), and your choice of Dense, Ultra-Light, etc bonus mod on the chest (Lead Lined would technically be on par with Grognak).

Granted, those other things also add a lot more weight.Unlike other aspects of armor where there isn't really a choice so much as you're outright gimping yourself in preference for style, wearing Grognak is very much a meaningful decision of weighing pros and cons. It's pure offense, and that's certainly effective, but you truly are trading a lot for it. The Grognak outfit looks totally awesome. But lots of outfits look really cool. That's the point.

The art/model team I think did an outstanding job.The loot designers, on the other hand, leave me very disappointed. Maybe it wasn't their goal to fill the game with balanced options for players to collect and weigh pros and cons. Because if it was, they failed horribly.

And if not, why not? Who's going to complain about having lots of awesome, viable choices when it comes to building their characters?. Without modding, Grognak cannot be weaved or worn with chest armor. You can wear arm and leg armor over it, though. It really just comes down to 'are you tough enough.' Heavy polymer combat chest and weaved fatigues is an extra 140 140 resistance over the grognak outfit.

Depending on your perks, you probably have about 120-160 resistance wearing grognak. But a weaved hat is another +110. So you're looking at 250 resist and +20% or 390 resist and +0%.I guess in that light, I'd choose the damage too. I don't have a high level melee character yet, but I can't imagine 250 not being 'tough enough.' Especially if you're using Blitz or any stealth. I guess the flip side is, do you 1 shot everything already, even without +20%? Because if you did, then it doesn't really matter.

I made an unarmed build with grognak's costume before I started modding. Arms legs and head all can have armor so really the one thing missing is the chest piece which isn't that big of a deal if you have a helmet+glasses.

Between a high endurance and the Lone Wanderer perk, there's not much to miss about slightly more defense. Especially in Survival, it's about playing it smart rather than running in a straight line toward the enemy. It doesn't matter if you have 500 or 550 DR, if you died in 3 seconds you would have done so in either case in roughly the same amount of time. I never even used the perk that gives +10 each level by level 35 because every time the perk could be better used for something like Blitz which indirectly reduces the damage you take as well as drastically decreasing the time an enemy has to cause that damage before you knock his lights out.
