Getting a jump on what is fast becoming, Toshiba has announced a new line of portable HDDs that work with both Type-A and Type-C USB connections. The Canvio Premium series was presented at 2016 CES.
Toshiba also unveiled a dual port flash drive called the TransMemory EX Dual. The Canvio Premium HDD’s compatibility with USB 3.0 and USB Type-C devices is made possible via an included onboard adapter, which makes it possible to connect to a wide range of devices both old and new. The TransMemory EX Dual flash drive comes with two separate connectors, one for Type-A and another for Type-C devices. Read and write speeds are said to reach as high as 95MB/s and 80MB/s, respectively.
